Welcome to the World Crew Boy
crew russell leavitt – february 2nd, 2018 – 7 lbs 11 oz – 21 in
He’s Here! We could not be more in love with our little babe. He came almost a week early and we have been loving every extra minute that we’ve had with him.
I had been having contractions for a couple of days before I went to the hospital. I had a doctors apt on the Wednesday before he was born. My doctor said she would not be surprised if he came that weekend. She was so right! At 9:30pm that very next day, my contractions started getting stronger and closer together. Preston packed up the car and we headed to the hospital. (thankfully I had our hospital bags packed for weeks! ha!) At the hospital my contractions were getting more extreme, finally at 1am I decided to get an epidural. Oh my that was amazing! It helped the rest of my labor be relaxing and actually enjoyable.
My doctor was seriously amazing!(Still is! Always has been!) It was her day off the day I went into labor, so her partner was going to deliver me. I met her that morning and she was also great, so I wasn’t too worried. Surprisingly my doctor decided to come in on her day off to deliver me! Seriously an angel! She even picked up her little boy from school and came straight to the hospital when I was getting close to delivering. Her little boy hung out with some of the nurses. SO NICE! Oh and she was 7 MONTHS PREGNANT HERSELF! I can not say enough amazing things about her.
They broke my water at 7am and I started pushing at about 12pm. It was honestly so easy and relaxing for me. My nurses were awesome! I think I was nervous before because I had heard so many horrible stories and in the movies they make child labor look so terrible. My experience was honestly so chill. It was like we were all just hanging out casually chatting and laughing and then they would tell me to push every couple of minutes! I was never in pain! I even turned to my doctor at one point and said “Is this it?” She and the nurses started laughing with the reply of “Yes this is it!” I had to push for a while because Crew’s head was stuck on my pelvic bone, my delivery team handled everything so well. I was never worried. Preston was also so great being by my side the whole time and was involved in every step! Feeding me ice chips and helping me push. Crew finally came two and half hours later at 2:21pm. 7lbs 11oz, 21in long.
It was the most surreal moment. I had been dreaming of this day and now he was finally here. His sweet little scream! I can’t even put into words the emotions that I felt the first time I got to see and hold him. He was perfect! I couldn’t stop starring at him. I looked at Preston and said “He’s real!”. We were finally a family of 3. Our lives immediately changed for the better.
Everyone kept asking us what his name was, we honestly still had no idea. We had a list of our top names, but Preston didn’t want to decide on a name until we saw him. We sat there in our hospital room just looking at him trying to decide. Preston told me to choose and I said the same thing back to him. He starred at him for a minute and then said “I think his name is Crew”. We stuck with it. It seemed to fit so well. His middle name is Russell just like Preston’s, it is a tradition in his family after his grandpa.
I am so grateful for our amazing doctor and nurses, it truly is amazing what they do for their jobs. No matter what way a baby comes into the world, is so special. I am grateful for our healthy boy. I am especially grateful for a loving Heavenly Father who blessed our lives with such a beautiful baby.
We are so happy you are here Crew Russell Leavitt!
